Hillside ADU and Main House Addition

This hillside project focused on creating more functional living space while making better use of a limited backyard. The homeowner wanted to add a new bathroom to the main house and create a private guest house for their aging parents.

The design included a new ADU with accessibility in mind, incorporating lifts to accommodate wheelchairs and walkers. To preserve and expand the usable outdoor space, the roof of the ADU was designed as a deck that extends the backyard and creates additional space for the family to enjoy.

The result is a design that provides a comfortable, accessible living area for aging family members while maximizing the property's challenging hillside site.
